Summer Science Day Camp

Location: The Summer Science Camp will be held at the Brandwein Nature Learning Preserve (BNLP), 400 Minisink Turnpike, Port Jervis, New York. Directions signs will be posted on Minisink Turnpike directing parents to drop off area.

Dates: Monday – Friday, July 16 – 20, 2018 (Nature Observation and Appreciation) and Monday – Friday, July 23 – 27, 2018 (Field Science Investigations) from 9AM to 3PM daily. Parents are expected to drop off children and pick them up promptly.

Age Range of Day Campers: Grades 1 through 6.  (The activities will be split by age group Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6.)
Meals and Snacks: Participants are expected to provide their own lunch, beverage and snacks. The Brandwein Institute will provide bottled water.

Incidentals: Participants should bring small back pack, sunscreen and insect repellent.
Cost and Registration: The cost for the five-day science camp is $100.00 for 1 week and $150 for two weeks. The family discount cost for a second child is $75 for one week and $120 two weeks. (Payment information is available on the registration site). The final signup day is June 15, 2018, at (Minimum number of participants to run Science Camp is 10). Registration will be closed after first registered 50 students.
Instructors: Nationally-recognized science teachers Kasey Stankunas and Taylor Hartey from Port Jervis, NY School District as well as invited special nature scientist guests daily.

Typical Day at Brandwein Science Camp

•    9:00-9:30 - Check in/free time
•    9:30-10:15- Various breakout sessions: Campers choice
•    10:30-12:00 - Experiment/Investigation Science activity led by field expert
•    12:00-1:00 - Lunch and Free Time
•    1:00-2:30 - Various breakout sessions: Structured learning activity
•    2:30-3:00 – Learning games
•    3:00 - Parents pick up campers

Science Camp Graduation  
On Friday, July 27th at 12 noon there will be a barbeque for participants and parents followed by an awards ceremony and presentation of a Science Camp certificate for each participant.
